Angel and Anairis shared their belief in God and their lives as Catholics and then Angel said: “We are happy with the church but there are so many rules and we are not sure that we have to keep telling our sins to a priest.” They were encouraged to read their Catholic Bible which will show that we are to pray to God alone, “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5). The Holy Spirit then brought this conversation to man’s sin nature and the gospel, then Angel began to talk about the church but Anairis, as tears filled her eyes, said: “Oh, Angel, let this man speak.”
The gospel of God’s grace was then shared with Angel and Anairis and after hearing the gospel they were asked: “Has either of you ever acknowledged to God that you are sinners and your need of a Savior?” Anairis and Angel were encouraged to get right with God. Anairis was clutching the gospel tract she had received and said to Angel: “Angel when we get back to our room, together, we are going to pray to God and receive Jesus.” They were very thankful for this conversation and thanked God for what they heard this day.
If you have read this encounter and you are not sure about your destiny, you can get right with God right here and now by deciding to believe in Jesus and accept him as your Savior.
“O God, I am a sinner. I’m sorry for my sin. I want to turn from my sin. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son; I believe He died on the cross for my sin and that He was buried and You raised Him to life. I have decided to accept Your Son Jesus as my Savior, trusting only in His shed blood as sufficient to save my soul and to take me to heaven. Thank you Lord Jesus for saving my soul. Amen.”
A serviceman arrives to make repairs on a believer’s garage door. After completing the work the repairman (Ron) is asked if he believes in God to which he replies: “Yes, I believe in God.” Ron agrees to listen to one more question and he is asked: “Do you believe that you will go to heaven or hell when you die, and why?” Ron answers by saying: “I’m not sure but I think heaven because I have been trying to be a good person and have forgiveness in my heart and because recently I had an encounter with God. I had this dream, not long ago, that really shook me up. I dreamed that I died and I was standing at the gates of heaven, the dream was so real, I remember it perfectly. As I was standing there a voice said I would not be allowed into heaven but that I would be sent back to earth. I awoke and sweat poured from me and I knew what I had seen and heard were real.
I shared the dream with my wife the next day and then went to work and thought about the dream all day. When I arrived home my wife showed me a letter she had received that day. It was from Social Security advising her that since her husband had died that she would have to forward the death certificate and have her Social Security status updated. We were stunned by this letter as we pondered my dream. It took us a few days to do the paperwork verifying that I was not dead. And now, today, I am having this conversation about my assurance of heaven.”
At this point Ron was asked of it could be shared with him what the Bible says about eternal life, to which he agreed to listen. The Ten Commandments were presented to Ron and he was asked if he believed that he was a sinner and had he broken God’s law. Ron said he knew he was a sinner but has been trying his best to be a good person, especially since the dream. It was explained to Ron that the Bible teaches that the purpose of God’s law is to bring knowledge of our own sin and to stop a person from proclaiming their own goodness. Romans 3:20 and Galatians 3:24 were shared and that a new spiritual birth is essential for sinners to enter heaven, John 3:3 was then presented. Ron then listened as the gospel of God’s grace was shared with him. Ron was encouraged to get right with God. Before leaving it was noticed that Ron was limping and was wearing an ace bandage on his right knee. He was asked if a prayer of healing could be prayed for healing of his knee and he agreed. He than said that he has been suffering with pain for some time and the next day he was going to the doctor to determine what has to be done. A hand was placed on Ron’s knee and a prayer of healing was raised up to God in the name of Jesus. Ron was thankful for the prayer and our encounter came to an end.
Several months later service was again needed on the garage door. It was Ron who responded again. After a quick determination of the cause of the problem Ron made adjustments for the door to work properly. Before leaving it was said to Ron: “I see that your not wearing an ace bandage on your knee and your walking fine.” Ron responded: “That’s right when I was here the last time I remember telling you I was going to the doctor the next day and at that visit the doctor took x-rays and said that my knee had begun to heal, he was very surprised.” A friend of mine said the rosary for me but I forgot about you praying over my knee until now.” Ron was reminded that the prayer was a prayer to God for healing in the name of His Son Jesus.
If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ for salvation then it is most important for you to get to know Him. The real issue is knowing Jesus. Jesus Christ is the One who said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” – John 10:10
A believer gets an email from his son who recently purchased a home and the son asks his dad if he would look over his Homeowners Policy to see if it looks reasonable. The dad looks over his sons policy quote and then pulls out his own Homeowners Policy to compare the rates and coverage. The dad emails his son and assures him that his policy looks fine. The dad also makes note of the fact that his own homeowners policy is $700. more that his sons policy rate and with similar coverage.
The dad then calls his homeowners insurance company to inquire about his own homeowner policy annual rate. The representative answers: “Hello my name is Tiffany, how may I help you today?” The dad gets to the point about specific charges in his homeowners policy and through this inquiry Tiffany makes an adjustment which saves the dad $93.00 in annual premiums. But the dad goes a little deeper and has more questions and then Tiffany excuses herself for a moment to speak with her supervisor. When she returns to the conversation she explains the coverage in more detail. She then offers an option that will save the dad a total of $429.00 in annual costs, and with almost the identical original coverage. Tiffany tells the dad that he has made a wise inquiry. Tiffany says that she will wait on the telephone while she forwards, by email, a “change request form.” She waits patiently and when all is completed the dad winds up with a reduction of $429.00 in his annual Homeowners Insurance Policy.
But then….While the dad is holding the telephone he is struck by the presence of the Holy Spirit. Tiffany says: “Will that be all today sir….sir, may we be of any further assistance?” Uh, well, yes Tiffany, you have been of great help today, thank you….Oh Tiffany. “Yes, sir.” May I ask you a question, its not about my insurance though. “Yes, sir, you may,” Tiffany, do you believe in God?…”Yes, I do believe in God.”….Tiffany if you were to die today and stand before God and God were to ask you why you should be allowed into heaven, what would you say? “Well, I would say that I have always tried to live a good life and I have always been kind to people and respected all people.”
Tiffany was then asked if she would like to hear what the Bible says about eternal life and and she said: “Yes, I want to hear.” Before continuing it was asked of Tiffany if she had to get back to work and she said: “No, it is fine, I want to know what the Bible says about eternal life.” It was said to Tiffany that the Bible teaches that a person cannot work their way to heaven by doing good works and that salvation is an act of God offered to all people through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. The gospel of God’s grace is an unearned blessing, a free gift, and we receive that free gift of eternal life by putting our trust in Jesus Christ, the one who shed His blood and died on the cross to pay the penalty we owed. For the Bible says: For by grace are ye saved, through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
After listening to the truth of what God’s Word teaches about eternal life, Tiffany said: “I have never heard what you shared with me from the Bible, I want to thank you for what you have said, it makes complete sense to me, I understand completely now.” A gospel tract was scanned and sent via email. Tiffany said that she would wait for it to come through and then said: “Your email just came through, I have your gospel tract.
We talked about how the Holy Spirit was ready to talk with Tiffany and that today was the day she received God’s call. Tiffany’s voice broke and she said that she was so thankful. She was encouraged to call on God in prayer and to open her heart to Him, because God is wanting to hear from her what she believes about His Son Jesus Christ.. Our divine appointment came to a close and Tiffany was reminded that our body of Christ would be praying for her.
May all who read this account please remember Tiffany in your prayers.
David received pardon without knowing the means God would use to pay his debt. Not so with us.
Our gratitude should be even more full for we now know the length God went to in order to make
forgiveness available to us.
At a time when our nation is declining in so many ways, and spiritual darkness seems to be growing, the light of Jesus Christ can shine when believers reach out to our neighbors and provide and serve them in a natural and simple way. Out faith grows by helping others and we can be part of bringing about a great spiritual harvest.
We had a good turn out at the Mobile Home Park Outreach last evening as we slowly build friendship with the residents. Hot Dogs, Chips, Cookies, Chilled Water & Gatorade were enjoyed by all and a table with children’s tee shirts and also some toys were available for our neighbors.
A new couple joined in the outreach and also a gentleman who we met at a Starbucks and invited to the outreach. All speak Spanish! Tell me God doesn’t know what He is doing! Eight in all joined in serving our neighbors. We ask that all who read about what God is doing here will pray for this outreach and may the love of Christ penetrate the hearts of all whom we serve.
Due to a morning appointment being canceled it is decided that a stop for coffee would fit nicely. After leaving the coffee shop and arriving at the next appointment, a parking space, one of only two available was located. It was cold outside and a decision was made to stay in the car for a few minutes to organize paper work and to pray for God’s blessing on the day.
Then, a tap on the window, and a young woman was standing there and she said: “Sir, I’m sorry to bother you but my car is making a terrible sound and I am afraid to drive it to the dealer, it is a new car, could you listen to the sound and tell me if it is too dangerous to drive.” Got out of car and walked a few feet to the car, where the woman’s mother was standing. The woman got into her car and started and revved the engine. The exhaust pipe appeared loose and made a vibration sound at the rear of the car. She was assured that her car was safe to drive.
Before departing this encounter we introduced ourselves to one another. They were mother and daughter, the mom (Lois) and her daughter Gladys, the owner of the car. They were asked if a spiritual question might be asked of them and they both agreed to listen. They were asked if they believed in God and did they believe that they would be in heaven one day. They both answered that they believed in God and did believe that they would be in heaven one day.
They were then asked why they believed this and they both agreed that they have tried to live a good life. Scripture was shared from Ephesians 2:8-9 which teaches that eternal life is a gift from God and no one can earn salvation by their own good works. They both agreed to listen as the gospel of God’s grace was shared with them.
After listening to the truth of God’s Word, Gladys was asked if she believed in divine encounters from God and she clutched her hands together and as tears filled her eyes she said: “Yes, I do and I know what is happening now, I’m beginning to shake all over and I know that God is talking to me.” It was explained to Lois and Gladys that it is the Spirit of God who awakens a person to the truth of the gift of eternal life and we are a witness to what God is now doing. Gladys then said: “Yes, I believe what I have heard is from God.”
These women were encouraged to get right with God by praying and sharing with God what they believe about His Son Jesus Christ. Both were very thankful and said they believed that God was speaking to them. Would all who read this Holy Spirit encounter please pray for Gladys and Lois.
Our faith is initiated by the Spirit of God. It is no accident, but an act of God which had its place in an eternal plan to bless us with the free gift of salvation from sin.
Stopped at the grocery store to purchase some cold cuts and loaded the cart up with 25 pounds of bologna and continued shopping. A woman walked over to my cart and asked: ‘May I ask if that bologna is for you?” No it is not was the reply, the bologna is for a ministry that a few Christians friends are part of, the ministry is the “Sandwich Ministry” and sandwiches are provided for the homeless and people in need.
She said: “What a wonderful thing to do.” A conversation developed and she said that her name was Charlotte and that she was a retired school teacher from New England and that she is a Catholic. She was asked if she believed that she was going to heaven and she responded by saying: “I hope so, I pray to the saints and to the blessed Virgin Mary and not long ago I visited Lourdes in France and as I walked up to the statue of the “Lady of Lourdes” I felt myself feeling so good.” It was mentioned to Charlotte that the Bible teaches that we are not to honor man but God and although a person may admire people, including the Lady of Lourdes and people called saints that they are just people and our praise and worship should be to God alone.
Charlotte was asked if she ever told a lie, did she ever steal anything, had she ever been disobedient to her parents or did she ever take God’s name in vain. She responded by saying: “I don’t ever remember being disobedient to my parents but I am guilty of the others”. Charlotte was then asked if God were to judge her by His law did she believe that she would be innocent or guilty. She said that she believed she would be found guilty. It was then said to her that the Bible teaches that we all have sinned and did she know that there is nothing anyone can do to wash their sins away and Jesus himself said that no one can come to the Father except through Him and that unless a person is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Charlotte then asked: “How can I be born again?” It was said to her the the Scriptures teach that we must repent of our sins before God and believe that God’s Son Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and that Jesus was buried and that God raised Jesus from the dead. Charlotte moved her shopping cart over to be out of people’s way and as she put her hand over her heart tears began to roll down her face and she said: “Can I pray now?
Other shoppers now gathered their shopping carts around Charlotte’s and Scripture was quoted to her from Romans 10:9-10: “That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” We bowed our heads in that grocery store and Charlotte prayed out loud the salvation prayer: “O God I am a sinner, I ask that you forgive my sins, and God I want to share with You that I believe your Son Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sins and I believe You raised Jesus from the dead. I now place my trust in Jesus and receive Him as my Savior and Lord. Amen.”
Charlotte was broken and as tears filled her eyes she said that she was so thankful. We talked for a moment and praised God that he had our paths cross this day so that she could hear the truth of God’s Word. We said good bye and it was promised that our body of Christ would be praying for her and she was reminded to pray to God that he would fill her each day with His Holy Spirit.
For all who read this encounter, would you please pray for Charlotte, and if you are not sure about where you will spend eternity, you can pray right now and receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord. Remember God has brought you across this story because he loves you and God’s desire is for you to believe in His Son Jesus so that you too can be with God in his heaven.
